Air India Cargo (AIC) has won the Cargo Airline of the Year award in the best Central Asia Cargo airline category for the year 2009. This is the first time that AIC, the cargo arm of the reputed national carrier has won the award. The Cargo Chief, Ms Anita Khurana took the award on behalf of the airline.

The award has been given to Air India Cargo, in consideration to the role the air carrier has played in developing the air cargo market in Central Asia. Air India Express has initiated two new routes to Abu Dhabi from April 30, a move welcomed by Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC). The newest flight services of Air India fly passengers from Terminal 1 of the Abu Dhabi International Airport to the South Indian cities of Tiruchirapally and Chennai at 18:20 every Thursdays and Saturdays.
